The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a growing international school in Amsterdam. The AICS is excited to be able to open up a short-term, 3-month, job opportunity on our South Campus in Amsterdam, as one of our colleagues has taken an extended leave. We are looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and knowledgeable colleague to join our team.

Economics Teacher (IB DP) – Secondary School
Pay scale max. € 4,573,- | 4 or 5 days per week | Amsterdam

You are committed to the mission of AICS to provide high-quality community-based international learning in the form of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. • Nice gross monthly salary: min. € 3,001.- | max. € 4,573 (scale LB CAO-PO) or a higher scale, depending on experience, full-time base;

For a short-term replacement, from 8th May until 31 July 2023, AICS offers a contract for 0,6, 0,8 or 1,0 FTE (4 days per week: Monday afternoon, Tuesday, Wednesday morning and Thursday).

You need to have
As a Economics Teacher you need to have:

• a DUO-validated (Dutch Ministry of Education) teaching degree for secondary school education to teach in the Netherlands, please go to the following link for the certification and validation request;
• a valid work permit for the Netherlands;
• excellent command of English language and general communication skills;
• understanding and knowledge of intercultural competences.

Furthermore, (ideally) you have an understanding of the IB, you are flexible, resilient, open to new ideas, have a collaborative mindset and a good sense of humour.

About the AICS
The AICS is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School. Our vision statement is to be a community where learning is at the heart of everything we do. The mission of the AICS is to facilitate high quality, accessible, community-based international learning for students of all nationalities living in The Netherlands. We are one of 40 schools worldwide and the only school in the Netherlands that offers the full IB continuum (IB PYP, MYP, DP, and CP). About the AICS
The AICS is the first Dutch International Primary and Secondary School in Amsterdam. Together with a number of other schools we form the ‘Esprit Scholen’.  The AICS is subsidised by the Dutch government, which enables us to deliver high quality education at competitive fees. The AICS is a school for international education that is accredited by the Council of International Schools and focuses on children from international backgrounds. Currently the school offers primary education to students aged 4 – 10 and secondary education to students aged 11 – 19. The main language of instruction for classes is English. After several moves since the start of the school in 2003, the AICS is now located in three buildings: Main (primary and secondary, around 1100 students), Satellite (primary only, around 200 students) and South East (primary and secondary, around 300 students).
